Commander's
Comments: Comrades, let's start this year with a
resolution to attend some of our meetings, especially now that there is only one
a month, and to come and enjoy other post functions.
We have three new gaming or computer machines now
installed, and we have live music jam sessions once or twice a week with Karaoke
on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday nights usually starting at 6:30.
Our Ladies Auxiliary serves meals several evenings week.
Door prizes are given on Wednesday to the ladies, a
$15.00 Wal-Mart gift card is 1st prize and a free well drink is 2nd prize. Not
to let the men feel slighted, there is the same drawing for them on Sunday
nights. The drawings are usually at about 8:00 pm and you must be there to win.
We are looking forward to seeing you this year.
Post
Commander: Jim Dragoo
Meetings:
Post meetings are the 1st Monday of every month beginning at 7 PM (1900
hours). The 6 Feb meeting will
include CY 2011 Financial Report and CY 2012 Budget.
Meetings
Attendance: Nov 7 - 4
officers & 1 member; Nov 21 - 7 officers & 2 members; and Dec
5 - 6 officers & 3 members and Dec 19 - 4 officers & 1
member, and Jan 2 - 6 officers. We
would like to see more members attending our post meetings which are the 1st
Monday of every month beginning at 7 PM (1900 hours).
There is no meeting if the day is a holiday.
Membership:
As of 1 Jan 2012, we had 139
active members (dues are paid for 2012). The
59 members who had not paid their 2012 dues became delinquent on 1 Jan 2012.
The 22 of these 59 inactive members who have not paid their 2011 or 2012
dues will soon be dropped from our rolls by the National Headquarters.
To pay, leave your money with the bartenders or mail to our post address.
Our assigned goal for 2012 is 157
members, and we have only 139 (89%) who have paid.
Dues are still $30 per year.
Proof
of Eligibility: We need a copy of
your DD Form 214 or equivalent for our personnel file.
Apparently, we have people who gain membership via the National
Headquarters without supporting documents, then transfer to local posts and
later turns out to be non-veterans (frauds).
The responsibility for verification has been placed on posts to ensure
eligibility, so we are making a personnel file containing these documents and
will abide by "Privacy Act" rules.
Please mail/leave a copy at the post for the Adjutant's personnel file.
See Attachment 2 for the form needed to obtain a copy at no cost to the
member.
Programs:
Kudos to Edie Bejar, Cookie Byrnes, Leigh Pettigrew and Junior Bunfill for
hosting our Veteran's, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Eve dinners and
parties. Also kudos to Jim Dragoo,
Butch Hulgan and Vicki Giles in putting together Christmas Food Baskets with
toys for 23 needy families in our local community.
But not to be overlooked, a big THANK YOU goes to all of the members who
donated $720 to help fund these holiday events.
